Incheon Airport to Gangnam eye clinics: bus, train or taxi
What is the best way from Incheon Airport to Gangnam?
For most eye-surgery patients, the airport limousine bus is the best balance of cost and comfort: about ₩17,000 (approximately $12), roughly 60–90 minutes, with stops right by the main eye-clinic streets. Taxis are fastest door to door but cost about ₩70,000–100,000. AREX plus subway is cheapest, at around ₩5,000, but involves transfers with luggage.

How do I take the limousine bus to Gangnam?
Buy a ticket before boarding at the ticket counters in the arrivals hall or the kiosks by the bus stops; VisitKorea notes cash and transport cards are not accepted on board. Route 6009 leaves Terminal 1 from platform 4A and Terminal 2 from platform 15, with buses about every 15–20 minutes from early morning to about 11 pm. Its Gangnam stops include Sinsa, Sinnonhyeon and Gangnam Station, close to many clinics listed in Gangnam LASIK clinics.
Staff load your bags underneath, which makes the bus easy if you are travelling with a suitcase. Late-night bus N6000 (about ₩17,000) runs to Gangnam roughly between 11 pm and 4:40 am for late arrivals.
How do I get to Gangnam by AREX and subway?
Take the AREX all-stop train and change to the subway. Two common routes:
- To Gangnam Station: AREX to Hongik University, then Line 2 (green) to Gangnam. About 90 minutes in total.
- To Sinnonhyeon: AREX to Gimpo Airport, then Line 9 (brown) to Sinnonhyeon. About 75–80 minutes.
Airport stations have lifts, but transfers at Hongik University and Gimpo Airport involve long walks, so this route suits people travelling light. Pay with a T-money or similar transport card. The non-stop AREX Express only goes to Seoul Station (about 43 minutes from Terminal 1, 51 from Terminal 2), so it saves little time for Gangnam.
How do I get to Sinsa or Apgujeong?
Take limousine bus 6009 to its Sinsa stop, which is the first of its Gangnam stops when coming from the airport. From there, Apgujeong is one stop away on Line 3 or a short taxi ride. By rail, the Shinbundang Line now links Gangnam Station, Sinnonhyeon, Nonhyeon and Sinsa, so once you reach any of them the others are only a few minutes away.
If you arrive with heavy luggage after a long flight, a taxi from the Sinsa bus stop to an Apgujeong hotel is usually simpler than the subway. Allow for traffic around Garosu-gil and Dosan-daero in the evening.
How much is a taxi from Incheon Airport to Gangnam?
Expect about ₩70,000–100,000 (approximately $50–75) in a regular taxi, depending on traffic, time of day and the taxi type. Jumbo taxis for groups cost about ₩90,000–120,000. Late-night surcharges raise the fare.
Use the official taxi rank outside arrivals and check that the meter is running, or book through an app such as Kakao T. The expressway toll is usually added to the metered fare. Most taxis accept cards and transport cards. International taxis with English-speaking drivers must be booked in advance.
Which option is best on surgery day or the day after?
Do not travel straight from a long flight to surgery if you can avoid it: tired, dry eyes can affect pre-op measurements. Most clinics prefer you to rest for a night before the exam. See the 3-day LASIK trip itinerary for a sensible schedule.
Going back to the airport after surgery, choose the option with the least effort: a taxi or the limousine bus, rather than the subway with transfers and stairs. Wear sunglasses, keep your drops in hand luggage and allow plenty of time, as recommended in flying after LASIK.
Where should I stay to make the airport trip easy?
Stay near a limousine-bus stop that is also walkable to your clinic. Sinnonhyeon and Gangnam Station are served directly by route 6009 and sit in the middle of Gangnam's eye-clinic cluster. Read where to stay near Gangnam eye clinics for neighbourhood trade-offs.
