LASIK in Seocho, Seoul: Clinics, Cost & Patient Guide
Is Seocho part of Gangnam?
No, but the two run into each other. Gangnam-daero, the boulevard through Gangnam Station, is the boundary: the east side is Gangnam-gu and the west side is Seocho-gu. Several large refractive clinics advertised as "Gangnam" clinics have Seocho-gu addresses, so if you are comparing LASIK quotes you may already be looking at Seocho.
Away from the boulevard, Seocho is more residential and institutional than Gangnam: large apartment estates in Banpo and Jamwon, the courts and law offices around Seocho and Gyodae stations, the Seoul Arts Center, and the Express Bus Terminal with its department store and underground shopping.
Which clinics in Seocho-gu list LASIK?
These list LASIK on the official or listing pages we checked in November 2026. Not a ranking.
- B&VIIT Eye Center – GT Tower, 411 Seocho-daero, Seocho-gu, about 180 m from Gangnam Station (Exit 9). Lists LASIK, LASEK, SMILE, SMILE Pro, phakic lens implants and refractive cataract surgery. Profile.
- Glory Seoul Eye Clinic – 2F, 3 Seocho-daero 74-gil, Seocho-gu, near Gangnam Station. Its VISITKOREA listing names all-laser LASIK and LASEK, lens implants and cataract surgery, with interpreters. Profile.
- Apgujeong Eye Clinic – 597 Gangnam-daero (Jamwon-dong), Seocho-gu, beside Sinsa Station. Despite its name, it is in Seocho-gu. Lists LASIK and "Smart LASIK". Profile.
BGN Eye Clinic is sometimes listed at a Gangnam-daero address in Seocho, but BGN's official site (checked November 2026) lists only its Seoul branch at Lotte World Tower in Jamsil and its Busan hospital, so we do not list it here. See the BGN profile.
How do I get to Seocho from the airports?
Seocho is easiest from Gimpo: the Line 9 express stops at Express Bus Terminal. From Incheon, limousine 6009 serves Gangnam Station and Sinsa, both on Seocho's edge.
| From | Option | Approx. time |
|---|---|---|
| Gimpo | Line 9 express to Express Bus Terminal | ~30 min |
| Incheon | Limousine 6009 to Gangnam Station or Sinsa | ~70 min |
| Incheon | AREX to Gimpo + Line 9 | ~75 min |
| Incheon (late night) | Night bus N6000 to Express Bus Terminal | Long route, check timetable |
Is Seocho a good base if I live in Korea or travel from other cities?
Yes. Seocho is often the most practical choice for expats and for patients arriving from outside Seoul. The Express Bus Terminal on Seocho's western side is one of Seoul's main intercity coach hubs, and Line 9 runs from there to Gimpo Airport for domestic flights from Busan or Jeju. Patients from other Korean cities can come in by coach for screening, stay a few nights near the terminal, and travel home after the early follow-ups.
For expats, a few practical points:
- Insurance: LASIK is elective and generally not covered by National Health Insurance, so expect to pay the clinic's full price. Ask for receipts and an English treatment summary for any private policy.
- Work schedule: many people book LASIK on a Friday or Saturday and return to desk work after the weekend, if the surgeon agrees. Clinics are busiest on Saturdays, so book early.
- Long-term follow-up: choose a clinic that is easy to revisit from home or work, since you may want check-ups in later years.
- Second opinions: B&VIIT and Glory Seoul are both near Gangnam Station and Apgujeong Eye Clinic is three Shinbundang Line stops north, so two consultations in one day are realistic.

How does Seocho compare with Gangnam and Myeongdong for LASIK?
For LASIK itself, the clinics on either side of Gangnam-daero are part of one cluster. Seocho's advantage is quieter places to stay and the Line 9 express link to Gimpo; Myeongdong's is central sightseeing.
| Seocho | Gangnam-gu | Myeongdong | |
|---|---|---|---|
| LASIK clinics | Large clinics on the Gangnam-daero edge | The densest cluster | At least one verified |
| Neighbourhood | Residential, courts, arts centre | Offices, nightlife | Tourist shopping |
| Best airport link | Gimpo via Line 9 | Incheon limousine; Gimpo via Line 9 | Incheon via AREX |

Who is a good LASIK candidate?
LASIK suits adults with a stable prescription for at least a year or two, healthy corneas of adequate thickness, and no uncontrolled eye disease. A femtosecond laser cuts a thin flap and an excimer laser reshapes the cornea beneath; many people see well within a day or two. If your corneas are thin or irregular, clinics in Seocho also list LASEK, SMILE and lens implants. See am I a candidate for LASIK?, femto-LASIK vs microkeratome and LASIK side effects.
Risks include dry eye, glare and halos at night, flap problems and under- or over-correction. No clinic can promise a specific result.
How much does LASIK cost in Seocho?
Expect ₩1.5M–₩2.5M for both eyes (approximately $1,100–$1,900, at about ₩1,350–1,400 per dollar, checked in 2026). Ask what the package includes. See LASIK cost in Korea and LASIK cost: Korea vs USA.
Where should I stay in Seocho?
Large hotels around Express Bus Terminal and Banpo are on Line 9 for Gimpo and Line 3 for central Seoul, with Banpo Hangang Park nearby for evening walks. Stay closer to Gangnam Station or Sinsa if your clinic is on Gangnam-daero. Plan 3–7 days after LASIK. See where to stay near Gangnam eye clinics.
