BGN Eye Clinic Jamsil: SMILE Pro, LASIK & ICL for Foreign Patients
What is BGN Eye Clinic and where are its branches?
BGN Eye Clinic (BGN밝은눈안과) traces its history to Balgeunnun Clinic, which the Korea Tourism Organization's VISITKOREA listing says opened in 2000 and was renamed BGN Eye Clinic in 2017. The official English site lists two branches today: the Seoul branch on the 11th floor of Lotte World Tower in Jamsil (Songpa-gu), opened in 2019, and BGN Eye Hospital in Busan. The official site does not list a Gangnam branch, so use the Jamsil address when you book.
What procedures does BGN offer?
The English site lists SMILE Pro, SMILE, LASIK and LASEK (positioned for patients under about 40–45), ICL (described as an alternative for thin corneas and high myopia or astigmatism), and cataract and presbyopia surgery with monofocal or multifocal lenses (for patients over about 45–50). It says more than 20 tests are used to assess suitability, and VISITKOREA notes a dry-eye center opened in 2023.
What equipment does BGN name?
VISITKOREA lists the clinic's lasers with installation years: NEW Amaris 750 (2011), TENEO 317 excimer laser (2018), a 2018-model VisuMax and the ZEISS VisuMax 800 (2023), the year it also launched SMILE Pro. The clinic's international site says BGN operates eight VisuMax lasers across the group. See our VisuMax 500 vs 800 guide for what the newer platform changes.

How does the foreign-patient process work?
BGN says its international service began in 2010. VISITKOREA lists interpretation coordinators in English, Russian, Vietnamese and Mongolian, foreign-language materials, and registration in the Korean Accreditation Program for Hospitals Serving Foreign Patients (KAFH) in 2019. The English site offers free LASIK screening and consultation, booking via WhatsApp, Telegram, KakaoTalk and iMessage, and notes that arranging a reservation can take 2–3 days. Allow for that lead time, and for a full pre-op exam before any surgery decision. Our guide to registered medical-tourism clinics explains what KAFH and registration mean.
Where is it and how do I get there?
The Seoul branch is inside Lotte World Tower at Jamsil Station (Lines 2 and 8), in Songpa-gu east of Gangnam. Hours were given slightly differently on two official BGN pages (opening at 9:00 vs 9:30), so confirm your appointment time directly.
How does BGN compare with our procedure guides?
The menu covers the full range. For background see SMILE Pro, LASIK, ICL and cataract surgery. We did not find prices on BGN's English pages; our LASIK cost guide gives Seoul-wide ranges for comparison only.
What should I ask BGN before booking?
- Which of your lasers will be used for my procedure in Jamsil?
- Which surgeon will operate, and will I meet them first?
- Is the free screening the full pre-op exam, or a preliminary check?
- Is the quote per eye or both eyes, and what does it include?
- How many follow-ups do I need before flying, given the Wednesday closure?
All refractive surgery has risks, including dry eye, glare and halos and under- or over-correction. A full exam and an ophthalmologist's advice are essential. See questions to ask a LASIK surgeon.
