Apgujeong Eye Clinic: SMILE Pro, ICL & LASIK for Foreign Patients
What does Apgujeong Eye Clinic offer?
Apgujeong Eye Clinic (압구정안과의원, also called Apgujeong Eye Center) is a private ophthalmology clinic on Gangnam-daero by Sinsa Station. Its official website groups services into four areas:
- SMILE: SMILE Pro, SMILE LASIK and an "AGJ SMILE Center"
- Implantable lenses: EVO+ ICL, KPL, ECHO IPCL, other lens-implant options, ICL revision surgery and an "AGJ Prime Lens Center"
- Other vision correction: LASIK/LASEK, corneal cross-linking, a dry-eye clinic and orthokeratology (Ortho-K)
- Presbyopia and cataract: presbyopia treatment, PRESBYOND, VIVA presbyopia ICL, cataract and laser cataract surgery
The clinic states it has "over 20 years of history", that it introduced SMILE to Korea in 2011 and that it has performed more than 100,000 vision-correction procedures. These are the clinic's own claims.
What equipment and lenses does the clinic name?
The clinic names the ZEISS VisuMax 800 femtosecond laser for SMILE Pro and describes its team as ZEISS-certified. For lens surgery it lists the STAAR Surgical EVO+ ICL, plus KPL and ECHO IPCL lenses; ask which lens is proposed for you and why, as lenses differ in materials, sizing and the approvals they hold in different countries (see our EVO ICL vs Artisan guide). The clinic also says it has transparent operating rooms that let family members watch surgery.

How does the foreign-patient process work?
The clinic's website is available in English, Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Mongolian and Japanese, and it offers consultation by WhatsApp and KakaoTalk. A sensible sequence is: send your current prescription and any previous corneal scans for a preliminary opinion, book the full pre-op examination(stop contact lenses beforehand as instructed), then confirm surgery only after the exam. Remember the clinic is closed on Thursdays when planning your dates; our 7-day ICL trip itinerary shows how to fit in follow-ups.
Where is it and how do I get there?
Despite its name, the clinic's registered address is in Seocho-gu, on Gangnam-daero at Sinsa Station, just south of the Apgujeong area. The clinic says it is a one-minute walk from Sinsa Station Exit 4 (Line 3 and Shinbundang Line). From Gangnam Station it is a few stops north on the Shinbundang Line.
How does it compare with our procedure guides?
The menu is broad, with particular emphasis on lens implants. Background reading: ICL surgery in Korea, SMILE Pro, corneal cross-linking and presbyopia treatment. We did not find prices on the clinic's English site; our EVO ICL cost guide shows Seoul-wide ranges for comparison only.
What should I ask Apgujeong Eye Clinic before booking?
- Which lens (EVO+ ICL, KPL or IPCL) do you recommend for me, and why?
- How is the lens size chosen, and what happens if the vault is too high or low?
- Will SMILE Pro be performed on the VisuMax 800, and by which surgeon?
- Is the quote per eye or both eyes, and what does it include?
- How many post-op visits are needed before I fly, given the Thursday closure?
Lens implants and laser surgery both carry risks (for ICL these include raised eye pressure and cataract; for laser, dry eye and glare). A full exam and an ophthalmologist's advice are essential. See questions to ask a LASIK surgeon.
