Can I get EVO ICL in Apgujeong or Sinsa?

Probably, but confirm the lens model. Three clinics in the area list implantable lens surgery, and Apgujeong Bright Eye Clinic names ICL specifically. None of the listing pages we checked in November 2026 named STAAR Surgical's EVO lens, so ask each clinic in writing which lens it uses (EVO, EVO+, a toric version or another phakic lens) and why.

The area itself is upscale and residential: Garosu-gil in Sinsa-dong, luxury fashion around Apgujeong Rodeo, and the Han River parks to the north. It is calmer than Gangnam Station, which helps during the first days after surgery when glare and light sensitivity are common.

How do I get to Apgujeong and Sinsa?

From Incheon, limousine bus 6009 stops at Sinsa first in Seoul, in about 70 minutes. From Gimpo, Line 9 express to Sinnonhyeon then the Shinbundang Line north to Sinsa takes about 45–50 minutes. Line 3 links Sinsa and Apgujeong with Chungmuro, next to Myeongdong, in about 15 minutes. If you are travelling with high myopia and limited vision without glasses, a taxi from the limousine stop to your hotel is easiest.

Why can ICL take longer to schedule than laser surgery?

Because the lens has to match your eye. Laser treatments are programmed on the day; an ICL is a physical implant chosen by power, astigmatism axis and size, and the exact lens you need may not be on the shelf. Common myopic powers are often stocked, while toric lenses and unusual powers may have to be ordered after your exam, which can add days or longer.

  • Before you book flights: send your recent glasses prescription and any previous scans, and ask the clinic whether a lens in your likely range is usually in stock.
  • Contact lenses: stop wearing them for the period the clinic asks before the sizing exam, because lenses change corneal measurements.
  • Sizing: ask how the clinic chooses lens size (for example, by white-to-white distance or ultrasound measurement of the space behind the iris) and what vault it aims for.
  • Second eye: ask whether both eyes are treated the same day or on separate days, as this changes how long you need in Seoul.
  • Plan B: if the lens is delayed, ask whether the clinic can reschedule within your trip, and on what terms deposits are refunded.

Building two or three spare days into your trip removes most of this stress. See the contact-lens break and planning an eye-surgery trip to Korea.

What is EVO ICL and who is it for?

EVO ICL is a thin collamer lens placed inside the eye, behind the iris and in front of your natural lens. No corneal tissue is removed, and the lens can be taken out or exchanged if needed. EVO lenses have a small central port that lets fluid circulate, which is why a separate laser iridotomy is usually not needed. It suits high myopia, thin or irregular-looking corneas that rule out laser options, and some people with dry eye. You need enough space inside the eye (anterior chamber depth) and a healthy endothelial cell count. See ICL vs LASIK, high myopia options and toric ICL for astigmatism.

What happens during an ICL trip?

Step What happens
Exam day Refraction, tomography, chamber depth, endothelial count, eye pressure, dilated exam
Lens sizing Lens size and power chosen; toric or uncommon powers may need to be ordered
Surgery Numbing drops, small incision, lens unfolded into place; often both eyes same day or a day apart
Day 1 Pressure and lens position (vault) checked
Days 3–7 Follow-up before you fly

Risks include raised eye pressure, glare or halos, a vault that is too high or low and needs a lens exchange, cataract, endothelial cell loss and, rarely, infection. See ICL recovery timeline and 7-day ICL trip itinerary.

How much does EVO ICL cost in Apgujeong?

Expect ₩4M–₩6.5M for both eyes (approximately $2,900–$4,700) and roughly ₩5M–₩7.5M for both eyes with toric lenses, at about ₩1,350–1,400 per dollar (checked in 2026). See EVO ICL cost and ICL cost in Korea.

How does Apgujeong compare with Gangnam and Myeongdong for ICL?

Gangnam has the most ICL providers and the most published detail on lens models. Apgujeong has a smaller, quieter cluster, and Myeongdong has at least one clinic that lists ICL. Because ICL depends on careful sizing, surgeon experience and willingness to explain vault targets matter more than district. See EVO ICL in Myeongdong.

Where should I stay?

Book 5–7 nights near Sinsa or Apgujeong Station so the day-1 check is a short walk. Boutique hotels and serviced apartments around Garosu-gil suit a recovery week.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do Apgujeong clinics use the EVO lens?

The pages we checked list ICL or lens implantation but do not name the EVO model. Ask each clinic which lens it will use and request the lens card after surgery.

Can both eyes be done on the same day?

Many Korean clinics operate on both eyes the same day or on consecutive days. Your surgeon decides based on your exam.

Is ICL reversible?

Yes. The lens can be removed or exchanged, which is a key difference from laser procedures.

How long should I stay in Seoul after ICL?

Plan 5–7 days so you can attend the day-1 and later checks before flying.
