LASEK in Myeongdong, Seoul: Clinics, Cost & Patient Guide
Can I have LASEK in Myeongdong?
Yes. Myeongdong Seoul Bright Eye Clinic, on the 8th floor of the Hi Harriet building at 123 Toegye-ro, Jung-gu, about 60 m from Myeongdong Station Exit 7, lists LASEK (including a branded "Premier A LASEK" option) alongside LASIK, SBK LASIK, ICL and cataract surgery on the listing pages we checked in November 2026. It is the only Myeongdong clinic we verified, so if you want to compare several LASEK providers, add a consultation in Gangnam or Apgujeong. See Myeongdong clinic listings.
"Premier A" and similar names are clinic labels. Ask what the protocol involves: how the epithelium is removed, which excimer laser is used, whether mitomycin C is applied to reduce haze, and how pain is managed.
Is Myeongdong a good place to recover from LASEK?
It is convenient, but busy. Myeongdong is Seoul's main shopping and tourist district, with crowded streets until late evening. During the first 2–4 days of LASEK recovery your eyes will water and be sensitive to light, so a hotel on a quieter side street, near Namsan or toward Chungmuro or Euljiro, is easier than one on the main shopping lanes. Once vision improves, central Seoul's palaces and museums are a short ride away; avoid dusty or smoky places and wear sunglasses.
How do I get to Myeongdong?
From Incheon, the AREX express train to Seoul Station takes about 43 minutes; Myeongdong is two stops on Line 4 from there. Limousine 6015 runs directly in 70–90 minutes.
| From | Option | Approx. time |
|---|---|---|
| Incheon | AREX express + Line 4 | ~55 min |
| Incheon | Limousine 6015 | 70–90 min |
| Incheon | Taxi | 60–90 min, ~₩60,000–80,000 |
| Gimpo | AREX all-stop to Seoul Station + Line 4 | Check timetable |
What should I avoid in Myeongdong while my eyes heal?
Several things Myeongdong is famous for are best left until your surgeon clears you. The surface of the cornea is open for the first few days after LASEK, then fragile for weeks, so the aim is to keep it clean, moist and protected from irritants.
- Smoke and steam: table-grill barbecue restaurants and street-food stalls send smoke and oil into the air. Choose ventilated restaurants or delivery for the first week.
- Saunas and bathhouses: avoid jjimjilbang, hot tubs and pools for the period your clinic specifies, usually several weeks, because of infection risk.
- Cosmetics testing: skip eye makeup, sprays and samples around the eyes in the beauty stores until your doctor says it is safe.
- Crowds and dust: the main shopping lanes are packed in the evening; wear sunglasses and avoid rubbing your eyes if something gets in.
- Bright light and screens: neon signs and phone screens are tiring in the first days; rest your eyes and use preservative-free drops as prescribed.
Calmer options once you feel comfortable include short walks on Namsan's paths, indoor museums and cafes on quieter streets. See makeup after surgery, swimming after surgery and alcohol after surgery.
What happens during LASEK recovery?
| When | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Surgery day | Numbing drops, short laser treatment, bandage contact lenses placed |
| Days 1–4 | Watering, stinging and light sensitivity; rest, use drops as prescribed |
| Days 4–7 | Bandage lens removed once the epithelium has healed |
| Weeks 1–4 | Vision keeps sharpening; tapering drops |
| Months 1–3 | Vision stabilises; protect from UV to lower haze risk |

Who is LASEK suited to?
LASEK suits people with thinner corneas, contact-sport players, people in uniformed jobs and those who would rather not have a flap. Without a flap there is no flap-related risk later, but the early recovery is slower and more uncomfortable than LASIK or SMILE. Risks include haze, delayed healing, infection while the surface is open, dry eye, and under- or over-correction. A full exam decides. Compare LASEK, LASIK vs LASEK and PRK vs LASEK.
How much does LASEK cost in Myeongdong?
Expect ₩1.5M–₩2.5M for both eyes (approximately $1,100–$1,850, at about ₩1,350–1,400 per dollar, checked in 2026). Confirm whether the exam, bandage lenses, drops and follow-ups are included. See LASEK cost in Korea.
How does Myeongdong compare with Gangnam for LASEK?
Myeongdong gives you one verified clinic in Seoul's most convenient tourist base; Gangnam gives you many clinics to compare. If your prescription or corneas are borderline, a second opinion in Gangnam or Apgujeong is worth the 15–35 minute ride. See LASEK in Gangnam, LASEK in Apgujeong and Gangnam vs Myeongdong.
